Responsibilities
This position takes ownership of client websites, client email/SMS marketing, and client relationships, with a focus on Shopify and Klaviyo.
Most of our clients are small family farms, food hubs, and other local food businesses who need our help building their image, being found online, and increasing their sales. We also serve local food non-profits, government agencies, and partner-based initiatives with more communication-oriented needs (think buy-local campaigns, farm to school, state food charters, etc.).
We’re a tiny, efficient team, so each of us works directly with clients, and there’s much less division of labor than you would find in a typical agency.
Responsibilities will include:
Execute Shopify and Klaviyo projects hands-on. This can range from setting up basic storefronts to more complex sites with apps, custom liquid, etc. (Your teammates will pitch in with copywriting and graphic design, if needed.)
Answer inquiries from current and prospective clients when Shopify and Klaviyo are involved. Develop scopes of work.
Serve as primary Project Manager: map out steps, import and customize templated tasks (Clickup), manage project timelines, coordinate items needed from clients, and manage ongoing client communication.
Play a role in ongoing improvement of internal processes, task templates, and documentation.
Collaborate with team to support Grapevine’s own marketing and development of packages and service lines.
Depending on the interest and experience this person has, there will also be an opportunity to expand the role to other areas.
We want to create opportunities for fulfilling work and ongoing growth for every teammate. We’re always interested to hear what ideas you have for your role to expand or evolve as you grow professionally. We’re a small team so there can be a lot of crossover work, based on your skills (see bonus skills below).
Qualifications
The ideal candidate is a creative critical thinker who enjoys getting to know clients. If you appreciate having processes and systems in place, relish digging in to solve a challenge, and enjoy taking charge and knocking out tasks and projects, you’ll probably love it here. If you struggle with focus, motivation, or procrastination, this is not the job for you.
Essential Qualifications
Solid professional experience in Shopify, including all backend configuration; Liquid, HTML, CSS; theme customization; in-depth app research and customization; thorough testing and troubleshooting; Shopify reporting
Solid professional experience in Klaviyo or another email automation platform, including account setup, managing lists and segments, and developing flows (SMS experience is a plus)
Skilled at problem-solving and coming up with creative solutions
Project management/account management experience, including running meetings; proactive communication; and the ability to think through project steps, plan tasks, and anticipate ripple effects or related needs
Strong ambition, enthusiasm, and client service mindset
Because Grapevine team members can work from anywhere, they need reliable high-speed wifi; a space and schedule that enable blocks of uninterrupted time to focus on work; the self-discipline to be productive on their own; and a professional background view for client video conferencing.
Preference will be given to candidates with passion and/or experience in farming or local food.

Super productive
We’ve served over 100 clients since our launch in 2016 with a strong record of referrals and client testimonials.
It is our sincere intention to make Grapevine a triumphant enterprise for everyone involved.
We want our clients to get a good value for what they pay for our services — so it's well worth their investment and their business grows as a direct result of working with us.
We want every teammate to feel like they're paid a fair rate that recognizes their value and rewards their unique contributions to the company.
We want work-life balance to be the default. Each of us has different needs for day-to-day schedule and ideal weekly hours worked.

We want to create opportunities for fulfilling work, ongoing growth, and role evolution for every teammate.
We believe achieving these goals requires a balance of several factors: prices we charge clients; rates we pay teammates; creative ideas that add to the overall value; purposeful internal structure and processes; clear, ego-free internal communications; a high level of productivity for every teammate; and an approach that empowers every teammate to take the lead in owning projects and driving the company forward.
Remote work is a benefit for many of us, but it can also be a challenge. We’re always working on this challenge! Solutions that are currently in place include 1:1 calls for all new teammates to get to know current teammates; regular 1:1 calls; collaboration via Clickup, IM, and impromptu video calls; paid social calls and group activities; and an emphasis on open communication.
Grapevine won GD USA American Graphic Design Awards in 2019 and 2020 and has partnerships/consultant affiliations with Klaviyo, Squarespace, Square Online, Shopify, Drip, Local Food Marketplace, and GrazeCart. We are members of APPPA, National Young Farmers Coalition, and Slow Food USA.
