Shopify Updates: Bundles of Flexibility

The latest Shopify updates are small improvements that go a long way. Here’s what you need to know:

Account Access

  • Staff access can now be set by role, including administrator, online store editor, customer support, merchandiser, and marketer. You can also assign a user more than one role.

💡 What this means for you: If you own or administrate a Shopify store, keep an eye on staff account permissions. If you notice a “Legacy Access” badge next to your users, you’ll want to create and assign new roles for those users by May 1, 2025 (or they will be migrated to auto-generated roles).

Products, Bundles, + Subscriptions

  • You can now view product bundles performance in Shopify analytics, which includes Total sales by Bundle, Total sales by Bundle component, and others.

  • Bundles and components will now show in a nested grouped view in the Shopify checkout order summary, non-customized order-related emails, and abandoned checkouts in the Shopify admin.

  • You can now add Buy X, Get Y discounts.

  • You can now get notified as an admin on the Shopify Subscriptions app of billing failure due to out-of-stock products.

💡 What this means for you: Bundles, discounts, and subscriptions on Shopify are continuing to improve! If you have customized order emails and want to take advantage of the new nested bundle view in your emails, reach out – we’d be happy to help!

Site Design / Customer and Admin Experience

  • You can now add, remove, or edit pages and links in the customer account menu.

  • You can now build customer segments according to their store credit balance.

  • Draft orders have been expanded to work with functions, bundles, and checkout extensions.

  • You can now file insurance claims for damaged or missing Shopify Shipping shipments directly from the admin – plus, they’ve improved UPS® Ground and UPS® Ground Saver rates for smaller-sized shipments.

💡 What this means for you: If you use apps with customer-controllable features (like subscription management), issue store credit, or use draft orders, take some time to poke around and check out the latest improvements!
